Southwest Arkansas Weather Weekend Outlook (June 19–21, 2026)
An active weather pattern will continue across Southwest Arkansas through the weekend as several disturbances move through a northwest flow pattern aloft. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible from Friday through Sunday, with some storms capable of producing strong wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall. While widespread severe weather is not expected at this time, isolated severe storms cannot be ruled out, especially Friday and again during the weekend if organized thunderstorm complexes develop across the region.
Friday: Storms & Heavy Rain Possible: A cold front will slowly move south into Arkansas on Friday and serve as the focus for scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.
The greatest concern will be:
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms Damaging wind gusts in the strongest storms Frequent lightning Locally heavy rainfall
The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted portions of the ArkLaTex region in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather. While the overall severe threat remains low, any stronger storm could produce gusty winds capable of downing small tree limbs or causing isolated power outages.
In addition, very high moisture levels in the atmosphere may allow storms to produce intense rainfall rates over short periods of time.
Saturday & Sunday: Continued Unsettled Pattern: The cold front is expected to stall near southern Arkansas while warm, humid air quickly returns from the Gulf of America.
Several disturbances moving through a northwest flow pattern may trigger additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. Forecast confidence remains moderate regarding exact timing and placement, but the overall pattern supports multiple opportunities for rainfall.
Some storms may become strong, particularly during the overnight and early morning hours when thunderstorm complexes could move southeast into Arkansas.
Rainfall & Flooding Concerns: One of the bigger concerns through the weekend will be heavy rainfall.
Current guidance suggests:
Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible across portions of western and southern Arkansas. Localized higher amounts may occur where storms repeatedly track over the same locations. Ponding of water on roadways and localized flash flooding may develop, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Residents should monitor forecasts closely if they have outdoor plans or live in flood-prone locations.
Temperature Outlook: Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages throughout the weekend.
Highs: Upper 80s to lower 90s Lows: Upper 60s to mid 70s
Brief periods of slightly cooler and less humid air may arrive behind passing fronts, but no significant heat concerns are expected through the weekend.
Southwest Arkansas Weather Bottom Line: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday through Sunday. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather exists Friday, mainly for damaging wind gusts. Additional rounds of storms may develop during the weekend. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible in some locations. Localized flooding could become a concern where storms repeatedly move over the same areas. Temperatures remain near normal with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
